Welcome to Kai Iwi School

Environmentally friendly Kai Iwi School, established in 1876, is a true rural school with all the advantages of being within a short drive to the local city of Wanganui.  The school is well equipped with facilities and features any larger school would be proud of.  We are a full primary school teaching children through to Year 8 (Form 2). Our roll is just under 100 children. We have 5 full time teachers including a Principal who teaches some of the time and manages the school the rest of the time. Supporting our teachers are our school secretary and teacher aide.

Our children are encouraged to wear a school uniform which features our school colours of yellow and black.   We at Kai Iwi take pride in our school and have decorated the school externally through art programmes over the years. Also we grow our own native shrubs to help beautify our surroundings.   We have a very supportive community who participate in many school events.

To assist families in transporting their children to and from school we operate two buses that service both our rural and town students.
